JW-TPS-206(K18) online water transparency sensor is designed for continuous transparency and temperature monitoring in rivers, lakes, reservoirs, aquaculture ponds, water treatment systems, and environmental monitoring stations. Based on the visible light absorption method, it measures water transparency from 50 to 2000 mm and supports RS485 Modbus RTU output, automatic temperature compensation, IP68 protection, and a built-in cleaning brush for stable long-term operation.
2. Product Overview
JW-TPS-206(K18)water transparency sensor is an online optical water quality sensor used to measure the transparency of water by detecting the absorption of visible light. Many suspended substances in water absorb or block visible light, reducing water clarity. When the sensor is immersed in the target liquid, it measures the absorbance of a specific wavelength light beam and calculates transparency through curve fitting.
This sensor is suitable for water clarity monitoring in rivers, lakes, reservoirs, aquaculture ponds, wastewater treatment facilities, water source protection projects, and environmental monitoring stations. With RS485 Modbus RTU communication, it can be integrated into water quality controllers, PLC systems, RTUs, data acquisition systems, and cloud-based IoT monitoring platforms.
The built-in cleaning brush helps reduce fouling on the optical measurement window, making the sensor more suitable for long-term online monitoring where microorganisms, suspended particles, and impurities may affect readings.

4. Installation Notes
The sensor is designed for immersion installation. When hanging the sensor, avoid collision with walls or other hydraulic structures caused by water flow. If the water flow is strong, the sensor should be fixed securely.
The installation depth should be no more than 2 meters below the water surface. Considering water level fluctuation, the sensor should be immersed at least 30 cm below the possible lowest water level. The sensor should be placed in a position without bubbles in the water.
A cable protection sleeve is recommended outside the sensor cable, and the sensor should be firmly fixed and placed horizontally according to the installation diagram in the manual. For long-term use in water, seawater, or humid outdoor environments, all wiring joints should be waterproofed, and the user-side cable should have corrosion-resistant protection.
5. Maintenance Guide
To ensure accurate measurement, regular cleaning is important. Clean the external surface of the sensor with tap water. If debris remains, wipe it gently with a wet soft cloth. For stubborn dirt, a small amount of household detergent can be added to tap water.
Check the cable regularly and ensure it is not under tension during operation. Inspect the measurement window for dirt and confirm that the cleaning brush works properly. The built-in self-cleaning brush should be inspected and maintained by the factory every 18 months, and the dynamic seal device should be replaced after 18 months of continuous use.
Avoid direct sunlight exposure, do not touch the measurement area by hand, prevent bubbles from adhering to the sensor surface during measurement and calibration, and avoid applying mechanical stress, pressure, or scratches to the sensor.
