Smart Tea Garden Traceability and IoT Monitoring Project

Release time: 2026-04-14

Project Overview

To support the digital transformation of modern tea agriculture, a Smart Tea Plantation Digital Agriculture Innovation Application Data Center was established in Wuyishan, Fujian Province, China. The project focuses on improving tea plantation management through IoT sensing, visualized data platforms, intelligent pest control, carbon monitoring, and remote video supervision.

By integrating field monitoring devices, smart analytics, and a centralized management platform, the system enables tea growers and agricultural managers to monitor the tea garden environment, crop growth, irrigation, pest risks, and production conditions in real time.

Project Profile

Item Details
Project Name Wuyishan National Digital Agriculture Innovation Application Data Center
Location Wuyishan, Nanping, Fujian Province, China
Crop Type Tea Plantation
Project Scale Approx. 260 ha
Application Scenario Smart Tea Garden Monitoring and Digital Agriculture Management

Challenges

1. Tea Garden Environmental Monitoring

Sensors and video systems collect key field data, helping operators remotely observe tea garden growth conditions and environmental changes.

2. Intelligent Irrigation Control

The system tracks canopy temperature and works with wireless irrigation control devices to support smarter water management in tea plantations.

3. Production Traceability Platform

The farm management platform records real images and data from planting and processing stages, then generates product traceability codes for consumers to access authentic origin information.

4. Blockchain-Based Trust Mechanism

The original project used an “IoT + blockchain” model to support trusted, transparent, and traceable tea quality management from plantation to end consumer

Key Equipment Applied

The project includes multiple smart agriculture devices and field infrastructure, such as:

  • Agricultural environmental monitoring stations
  • Solar-powered field data collection terminals
  • Soil moisture and temperature sensors
  • Pest monitoring and intelligent insect trapping devices
  • Remote video surveillance units
  • Solar power supply systems
  • Smart monitoring cabinets and communication modules

Project Results

Through digital monitoring and intelligent decision support, the project has contributed to building a greener, lower-carbon, and higher-efficiency tea industry ecosystem.

Business Value

This smart tea plantation solution provides a replicable model for overseas tea estates, specialty crop farms, and precision agriculture projects that require:

  • Real-time crop and environmental monitoring
  • Reduced labor dependence
  • More efficient resource use
  • Eco-friendly pest management
  • Digitalized farm operations
  • Traceable and sustainable agricultural production

It is especially suitable for large-scale tea plantations, high-value crop farms, agricultural demonstration zones, and government-supported smart farming projects.
